Tragic Verse

“Tonight is my last eve of freedom before the chains and whips are brought down upon my shoulders tomorrow. The peace of my own flesh is soothed with thoughts of the present. That will perish tomorrow. What man alive has sorrow such as I. The present day alone is balm for forthcoming pains and future grief. But come my followers, let up in song, as the sun is one star brightest among many, so i should not be the sole voice heard within my grief.”

An attempt to write in the style of the Greek tragedians.
